Creative Music Workshop
December 17, 1pm
On Sunday, December 17th at 1 pm, the Creative Music Workshop (CMW) will hold their second phase concert of the 2006-2007 Season at The Stone in Manhattan. The event will feature students and faculty from this new music program and the great drummer Matt Wilson will join in for the second half of the concert.  CMW was created and is led by a partnership of five professional NYC jazz musicians: Bob Bowen, Brian Drye, Mike McGinnis, Jacob Sacks, and Khabu Doug Young.
The Creative Music Workshop (CMW) offers a fresh program of exploration for serious students of music, focusing on the creative process as it springs from the jazz tradition and the avant-garde. This new educational program is centered on the idea that a person learns to make art by exploring the process of making art and then actually creating it for an audience. In this way, the usual relationship between teacher and student is altered and becomes a collaborative partnership of creating music together. The primary form of exploration is grounded in the immediacy of improvisation and the basic tools of observation, relationship and communication. CMW thrives with a wide diversity of age, race, gender, level of experience and musical background. See our website for more info: www.CreativeMusicWorkshop.com

Funds are needed to endow start-up operating expenses and tuition scholarships. Admission is by suggested donation of .
