Taylor Ho Bynum’s expansive resume includes collaborations with both his contemporaries and legendary figures alike, most notably the iconic saxophonist/composer Anthony Braxton, with whom he has performed and recorded extensively over the past decade. The alto clarinet is, unfairly, the most-maligned member of the clarinet family, for reasons that remain obscure. Scott Robinson has been making creative use of its wide range and flexible voice for more than 30 years, and considers it the noblest of the clarinets (with the possible exception of the basset horn). Here he joins with two other adventurous and unafraid practitioners of the instrument to present a series of creative settings for alto clarinet, along with Warren Smith, percussion and Julian Thayer, bass.
